PROSHOP & GOLF STAFF
The Proshop is equipped to handle all your golfing needs. Mr. Kiel and his staff masterfully manage the tee sheet to expedite play with Midvale’s no tee time policy and ensure pace of play is kept to four hours for 18 holes. Gear up for the course with a full selection of all the latest apparel, clubs, balls, and much more. Lessons are also available for everyone from new golfers to low handicappers to juniors. Push carts as well as comfortable electric golf carts are available with integrated USB chargers to keep your devices charged on the course.
Head Golf Professional
As the head golf professional at Midvale since 2003, Mr. Mike Kiel is dedicated to providing members a top notch golf offering and experience. Mike was an NCAA Division III First Team All American for the University of Rochester in 1992 and the RDGA District Champion in 1996. He began his career at Celebration Golf Club serving as the Assistant Golf Professional in 1998. Three years later, he took on the same role at Midvale Country Club before being elevated to Head Professional in 2003. He was subsequently elected to PGA Membership in 2007 and recorded a career low round of 62.
Mike currently serves on the Western New York Board of Directors in addition to leading all golf activities at Midvale. He and his team masterfully maintain a consistent pace of play with a no tee time policy and are sure to match members when necessary. Mike provides lessons, a kids summer camp, opportunities for juniors to enjoy the game, keeps the pro shop stocked with gar and many other benefits for the membership. Residing in Fairport with his wife Debbie, son and daughter, Mike is sure to become a friendly face in the pro shop, around the course and in the clubhouse.
Director of Instruction
Rob was born and raised in Rochester (West Irondequoit) and graduated from Bishop Kearney High School in 1978. He graduated in 1982 from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelors degree in Business (Marketing). Rob was a member of the golf team at Notre Dame for all four years and was MVP in his junior and senior years. Rob turned professional in 1983 and became a PGA member in 1989. He has worked as an assistant at Ontario Golf Club (1983-1988) and as a Head Professional at Deerfield (1989-1991), Clifton Springs (1992-1997), Blue Heron (1998-2009) and Canandaigua Country Club (2016-2018). He was the Director of Golf at Shadow Lake in 2019 before coming to Midvale (2020). He has also worked as a teaching professional at GolfTEC Rochester, Ravenwood and Shadow Pines.
Rob has served on the Western New York PGA Section Board of Directors for over 20 years and has served as its Secretary, Vice President and President. Over the years, He has been named the Section's Professional of the Year (2004), Teacher of the Year (2006 & 2014) and Player of the Year (1992 & 1999)
First Assistant Professional
Dan was born and raised in West Irondequoit and graduate from West Irondequoit High School in 2015. During his time there he played 4 years on the varsity golf team and was the captain for two. Dan has worked in the golf industry for 5+ years. Starting as a cart barn/caddy at The Club at Las Campanas in New Mexico (2016), then transferring back to his home city of Rochester where he was the assistant at Genesee Valley Golf Club (2017), before becoming the first assistant at Midvale Country Club (2018). Dan was elected to PGA Membership in 2022. Dan is also Titleist Performance Institute Junior Level 2 certified. Dan specializes in teaching juniors and golfers of all abilities helping them attain their true swing.
